The first ingredient of The Shepherd’s Choice® Lamb and Kid Milk Replacer is skim milk. This “slow protein” aids in digestion. Other brands use dried whey concentrate because it’s cheaper. Whey is a “fast protein” which is quickly assimilated, but can result in intestinal hemorrhage syndrome and abomasal bloat if fed too quickly.
