The Sole Solution! May aid in the temporary relief of minor soreness from bruised and tender soles, such as those caused by stone bruises.
Stone bruises can be a painful injury for your horse, and are one of the leading causes of lameness. Stone bruise is a general term used to describe bruises to the sole of the foot. These bruises can be a result of the horse moving over rough and rocky terrain, exercising on hard surfaces, or even walking on packed snow or ice in the winter. Anytime there is a forceful impact to the sole, a bruise can form.
Sole injuries can be painful and slow to heal, since there is often repeated pressure placed on the injured tissue, so direct treatment is a good idea to minimize the length of the injury.
The thickness of the sole itself also plays a role in the likelihood of bruising. Just like humans who go barefoot often, the sole will toughen up naturally with more exposure to adverse conditions, such as with trail horses that experience consistent impact on their soles.
Thin soles can also be genetic – some breeds such as thoroughbreds and other related warmbloods have naturally thinner soles than others due to many generations of breeding preferences. Regardless of breed, most stone bruises occur to horses that are constantly kept in lush pasture or soft bedded stalls, when the soles are not given the opportunity to toughen naturally.
SU-PER Sole Formula is a product designed to provide relief from stone bruises or other similar injuries to the sole, and help decrease sensitivity of bruised tissue. It is also used as a preventative treatment, to toughen the sole and limit the chances for stone bruises.
Use SU-PER Sole Formula daily for existing bruises (up to 4 times daily for severe bruises), or treat thin soles regularly to decrease sensitivity. When using long term, you can apply just once every three days to toughen the sole over time.
